Well I did it...and LOVED it! I completed my 1st Triathlon in less than 2 hours like I had hoped. I felt good on the swim although I didn't go the whole swim freestyle and had to throw in some breast stroke through the first 1/2 of the swim trying to get acclimated to the water temperature. It was so cold putting my face into the water that it just took your breath away. But after I made it to the 2nd buoy, I was able to get some freestyle into the latter 1/2 of my swim.
I felt great on the bik…

Well, considering I've only learned how to swim a total of 8 months, I feel pretty great in the pool. This last week I've swam 4 days, and of those 4 days, 3 of them I could feel a huge difference in my technique. I'm more relaxed, I can hold my breathe longer and learned how to efficiently glide in the water, take less strokes, plus manage keep my feet afloat without too much kick. I'm just amazed the difference I feel in the water considering the swim is my biggest fear. Instead of having that…

Well, I haven't had a lot of time to sit and type any entries in my Blog Post, so I'll sum it all up over the past few weeks.
I've been taking Strength Training classes about twice per week...another name for those classes is Kick My A** class in my opinion. After all those squats and lunges, it's a miracle I have the ability to walk the next day!
I've been taking it easy with my run routine so I don't injure my knee. On occasion, if I push too hard, I can feel some aggravation coming on, so I…

Well, after my older kids were off to school, I loaded up my 2 and 4 year old boys, got my gym bag together and headed off for a 20 minute drive to the gym (one way), dropped my 2 year old in child care, had to drop off my 4 year old in another group in child care, got dressed for the pool and started my workout.
After getting in about 400 m into my workout, feeling awesome with 10 second rests in between sets, I see one of the childcare workers pop her head in the door and I immediately knew s…

Jumped on the bike trainer for 35 minutes and discovered I was still sore from the spin class the other night. No so much my legs, but my sore butt from that terrible bike seat from the spin bike. I toughed it out though and did the whole 35 minutes at an easy steady pace. Managed to break a good sweat so I know I was doing something right. lol Didn't get in my run like I had hoped since we were having some nasty wet weather. I'm hoping to make it up tomorrow.

Why don't they make those seats on the spin bikes more padded? I mean...could they be filled with cement? And I was wearing my bike shorts that have padding! Gesh...
Anyway, squeezed in a spin class this evening for one full hour and felt really good. The instructor threw in some hard 45 second intervals that kicked my butt. Got my heart rate up and I tried to focus on my breathing. I know my legs are going to be sore tomorrow for sure...I can already feel it in my hamstrings. Gonna do some lon…

Got in the pool for the first time in over 8 months and felt pretty good. My son complimented my swimming and said I looked really good! Considering it's my weakest of the three and haven't done it in a long while, it felt pretty good to hear. We did some "mom I bet I can beat you to the other end of the pool" drills, so I threw in some good sprints in my workout. I cheated though...I was wearing flippers and he wasn't....and he STILL managed to keep up with me!! HAHA!
Other than the 5 minute b…

Today is day number two of my walk & run work out and this time I remembered to wear my security-beanie. I went a little further this time and threw in some good running instead of my normal "shuffle". Concentrated on good form, kept my arms up tight close to my chest, focused on my feet and legs nice and straight and light on my feet, like a dog or cat runs! I tried to visualize running on clouds and it helped a lot.
Other than a few times going uphill I felt like my heart was going to jum…

Well today I did it...my official first day working out. I stuck with my coachs recommendation to start off with a one minute walk, then a one minute run, then back to a one minute run intervals the whole entire 20 minutes. The first round-about the trail I felt great until I realized I forgot my beanie at home since my ears get extremely sensitive to the cold air.
Albeit, I toughed it out, didn't stop at home to pick up my "security-beanie" around the next round-about and sticked with my origi…

Okay...for those of you who have never participated in a Triathlon, maybe you can relate. I've got a plan, a great coach - Michelle Cox, my husband Ross Hadley to push me and motivate me, my kids to inspire me and a goal at the end of the plan....just need to stick with it. I have two days...TWO days to get myself mentally prepared for the challenges ahead of me before I compete in my first race on September 21, 2008 in Longmont, CO. It's official, my first day of training this Thursday! Just ha…
